Do you host international domains?
Yes, we are hosting customers from all over the
world.
How long does it take to setup a
new account?
Generally we will setup a new account within one business day
of submission. Under normal circumstances we will be much faster, sometimes
within 15 minutes. This also depends on your ordered options and if you
are ordering a new or an existing domain. However, it can take up to three
days for your domain name to point to your new site. This is out of our
reach and is due to the structure of the Internet.
How do I transfer my site to hostproof.com?
After selecting and ordering your hosting package you will have
to move the contents of your current site to your new site. Don't forget
to setup email accounts, forwarders and so on. Do some testing!
Then change the name servers for your domain to ns1.hostproof.com and
ns3.hostproof.com. This must be done at the registrar where your domain
is registered. If you don't know where try a WHOIS or send us an email.
After changing name servers you will have to wait one to three days after
the new address is recognized throughout the world. Now it's safe to switch
off the account with your old hosting company.
Why doesn't hostproof.com offer phone
support?
We prefer support requests through email as it allow us to focus
on fixing problems instead of answering the phone. Also this provides
an audit trail of communication so that all the facts can be passed on
to whomever may be working your problem.
Can I get unlimited bandwidth?
No. There is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth. If anyone is
offering you "unlimited bandwidth" stay away from this company!
Somewhere in their terms and conditions are probably some words referring
to "excessive use of resources", and in effect these place some
arbitrary limit on your bandwidth (more on this topic at What
to look for...)
We set limits to both protect you and to provide you with
a reliable service!
Do you provide a web interface to
my emails?
Yes, please take a look at the Control
Panel.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my account?
Just send an email to our sales
stuff and specify which changes you want to take place. Please note
that a downgrade is only possible after the time you have already paid
for.
Can I use my account for commercial
purposes?
Yes. The World Wide Web has become the most efficient and cost-effective
means of making information available to the users of the Internet community
and we encourage our customers to utilize such an enormous medium.
Do you backup my data?
We make a daily backup. Please note: backups are intended to be
used in the event of system failures and are not intended to be accessed
to restore files to individual sites.
Is my access 24 hours a day?
Yes, you can access your site, FTP and email accounts
24 hours a day.
What is your server environment?
We are using only proofen standard components, both hardware and
software. Industry standards as Red Hat Linux running Apache web server
(the most commonly used throughout the Internet). Our servers for virtual
accounts have 2 Pentium III CPUs at 1 GHz with 1 GB RAM - an outstanding
solution!

Do you provide Telnet access?
Yes, we offer this valuable feature for free. Please note, to obtain SSH/Telnet
access you are required to fax us a copy of your driving license.
Do you also provide Windows NT accounts?
Do you support ASP or Cold Fusion?
Currently not. If you have some .asp files there
are chances you can convert these files to PHP.
Please ask our support.
Do you support WAP?
Yes.
